Trinity Baptist Church Online Giving Q&A

Here at Trinity we talk a lot about bringing UP THERE down here, meaning that we endeavor to do our part in making the Kingdom of God a reality here on earth. When you give to Trinity, you enable that bigger-than-yourself mission to happen in numerous ways. THANK YOU for giving generously to what God is doing in our world through the church family at Trinity.

Now a few words about Tithes & Offerings.

These two words are often understood as synonymous, but there is a difference between them. “Tithe” literally means "tenth" or 10 percent. In the Old Testament, the tithe was first 10% of the harvest, otherwise known as Firstfruits. And the Bible states very clearly what the purpose of the tithe is:"The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives..."Deuteronomy 14:23 (Living Bible)God does not want our money; He wants our hearts. And tithing, giving of our Firstfruits, is a chief way of recognizing that we have indeed put Him first and that He is the supplier of everything we have.An offering, on the other hand, is anything above and beyond the tithe. In the New Testament there is no teaching on “tithing”, rather the New Testament teaching is about sacrificial giving and generosity. The Apostle Paul encourages us to EXCEL in the grace of giving because God influences the world through his people (2 Corinthians 8:7). He gives TO us so that He can give THROUGH us. As we faithfully give, the world is changed for the glory of God. The LIFE Jesus offers is preached, people are fed, brokenness is healed, lives are transformed and each of us, in turn, is blessed by God.May we as followers of Jesus be generous in response to God’s generosity with us, giving Him the Firstfruits of His provision to us so that He can in turn change the world through us.

We have teamed with the company we use for our database management, Shelby, Inc. to provide an alternative way of expressing your worship through the giving of your tithes and offerings. Using the Shelby WebView portal and the secure servers and PCI compliant methods of Payment Data Systems, we are able to allow our congregation to give via credit or debit card or through direct draft from your bank account.

2) Password: This password is a secure number/letter combination that only you will have. The church staff doesn’t have access to this number. Once you receive it you will be able to change it.

Q: How do I get this password?

A: Under the Member Login you will see a heading Forget your password? Click on the link Have it e-mailed to you. Enter your email address we have on file and an email will be sent to you within 24 hours (it usually takes less than 30 minutes for this to arrive.)

This is what you will see when you logon:

Q: How will online giving work?

A: The online giving service will charge the credit card you specify the amount you specify or allow you to deduct any amount you specify directly from your checking account – the same as if you wrote a check.

Q: Is this process safe?

A: Yes. The electronic payment is set up through a secure service that protects your account information. These transactions are governed by strict national rules and guidelines. Over four billion electronic fund transfers are processed in the United States each year.

Q: When would the contribution be deducted from my account?

A: The fund transfer will take place on the date that you specify on the signup screen. You may choose to make a one-time contribution or specify an automatic weekly, monthly or other designated time frame transaction. Please note that there is a fee that Trinity pays for each transaction. This fee is paid by Trinity each month based on the number of transactions processed. The fewer transactions processed each month per donation means that Trinity keeps more of each donation.

Q: Can I change the amount or time frame for automatic transactions?

A: Yes. You may change the amount that you want to give and the frequency of the transaction at any time.

Q: Can I give to the Imagine Campaign as well as my regular tithe?

A: Yes. You can select where you would like to apply your donation from Trinity’s recognized Funds, e.g. General Fund, Benevolence Fund, and Rwanda Missions Fund.
