Volunteer Opportunities

Trinity Baptist Church partners with Hope for New York to serve the poor and marginalized in NYC. Below are some volunteer opportunities that individuals or groups can get involved with and put their faith into action! 

 

 
Hope for New York's 6th Annual Spring Benefit
Thursday, May 10 at 7PM 
 
 
The Hope for New York Spring Benefit, hosted by the Young Supporters Committee, will feature live music, delicious food and great company! The special program will celebrate the faces and stories of hope in NYC. For more information and to RSVP, please visit the HFNY website HERE
 
Community Service Week, May 12 to May 20th
 
Trinity is offering a community service week from Saturday, May 12th to Sunday, May 20th, followed by a special luncheon and presentation on May 20th. Instead of just one day of opportunities, you will have several volunteer opportunities throughout the week. Sign up for the volunteer opportunity of your choice after services on Sunday, May 13th - or check out the full list of opportunities and contact information HERE.

Tutor Adults in GED at Teen Challenge
Time/Date Flexible
 
Volunteers are needed to facilitate GED classes for adults in the Teen Challenge residential recovery program in Brooklyn. Teen Challenge works with adults whose lives have been impacted by drug addiction and other serious life-controlling problems. Discuss Apologetics with Youth at a LES Coffeehouse
Friday Nights, 7pm-10PM
 
The Apologetics Cafe is a community where young adults can come and explore the claims of Christianity in a safe environment. Volunteers are needed to create a coffeehouse atmosphere (help bake, set-up, breakdown, serve, greet) and discuss faith questions with the young people at Apologetics Cafe with Graffiti Church on the Lower East Side. Father's Heart Ministries
2nd Saturdays of the month
 
Trinity Baptist volunteers are needed on the 2nd Saturday of every month to serve an all-you-can-eat free breakfast to 600+ hungry guests. Email Yi Guo at Yguo_rx@yahoo.com to sign up. 
 
Additional Opportunities at Father's Heart
 
Volunteer Supervisors Needed to Run Saturday Breakfast
Volunteers are needed to serve as supervisors one Saturday a month from 8AM-12PM. Supervisors will work in teams to lead a group of 10 volunteers at a station (ex: cooking, distributing food, cleaning). Interested? Email Christine at fathersheartteamleader@gmail.com. There are 4 mandatory training sessions on Tuesdays (4/17, 4/24, 5/1, and 5/8) from 7-9PM. 
 
Have a flexible schedule? KidZone Coordinators Needed!
Two volunteers are needed to arrive at 4PM on Tuesdays to set up arts & crafts, games, food tables, etc., and to troubleshoot during the KidZone program, which ends by 7:30PM. KidZone follows the NYC public school schedule and is closed when the schools are closed on holidays and in the summer. This is a perfect opportunity if you love details, organization, and working with others! There are 4 mandatory training sessions on Tuesdays (4/17, 4/24, 5/1, and 5/8) from 7-9PM. Mentor with Alphabet Scoop - a job training program for teens!
Volunteer mentors needed to mentor and supervise teens through the Father's Heart Alphabet Scoop Program from April to September 2012. A mentor will supervise a shift with one teen; during the shift, along with serving customers, the mentor will reinforce life and job skills and provide whatever other nurturing, encouragement and support that is appropriate. Young Life - Reach Out to International High School Students at Trinity!
Tuesdays, 3PM to 6PM
Serve international high school students with Young Life! Their weekly gatherings are at Trinity Baptist. This Club is a safe place for non-Christian youth to gather and have the Gospel presented in a way that is relevant and appealing to teenagers. Anyone with a heart for youth and cross-cultural ministry is welcomed! Please email nicole@ylnyc.younglife.org for more information. 
 
Garden and Bake with Formerly Homeless Men & Women!
Saturdays, 1PM to 3PM
Volunteers are needed for a pilot program to garden and/or bake with residents at this Upper East Side facility. Help residents with the rooftop garden and/or bake desserts during their high tea program on Saturdays throughout April. This is a great opportunity for groups! Prepare and Serve Meals to the Homeless on the Upper East Side
Any night except Saturday, 6PM to 8PM
Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve a meal, talk with homeless guests, and clean up for HFNY's pilot program at a homeless shelter on the Upper East Side. The meals take place every night except Saturday from 6-8PM. Please email ashley@hfny.org for more information.
